Ajith Malige, MD Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon Fellowship Trained Sports Medicine Specialist
Dr. Malige is a fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who completed his fellowship at the prestigious Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles under the tutelage of the world-renowned Neal El Attrache. He has extensive training and experience in hip arthroscopy, hip arthroplasty, anatomic ACL reconstructions using multiple graft types, meniscal surgery, rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability surgery, shoulder arthroplasty, and throwing elbow injuries. He also specializes in cartilage restoration, knee multi-ligament reconstruction, syndesmotic injuries, fractures, and other surgeries of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle. Finally, he has extensive experience in orthobiologics, specifically platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections for various pathologies and body parts.
Dr. Malige strives to help athletes of all types and competition levels return to sport. He has served as an assistant team physician at the professional level (Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Galaxy, and the Anaheim Ducks), collegiate level (Pepperdine Waves), and the high school level (numerous high schools across the Lehigh Valley). He is also an extensive researcher, publishing over 50 papers and book chapters, focusing on shoulder arthroplasty, throwing elbow, ACL reconstruction, and biologic treatments. He has also given lectures and presentations at numerous national orthopaedic conferences.

Dr. Malige was born in Mountain View, CA and grew up in the South Bay. He went to high school at Saint Francis High School and college at University of California-San Diego. He grew up playing basketball, swimming, and tennis.
He combined his love of both biomechanics and sports to pursue his medical degree at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and eventually his orthopaedic residency at St. Luke’s University Health Network. He completed his sports medicine fellowship at the prestigious Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles under the tutelage of the world-renowned Neal El Attrache. During his time there, he served as an assistant team physician at the professional level (Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Galaxy, and the Anaheim Ducks), collegiate level (Pepperdine Waves), and the high school level.
He is also an extensive researcher, using it as a way of staying up to date on new surgical techniques. He has published over 50 papers and book chapters, focusing on shoulder arthroplasty, throwing elbow, ACL reconstruction, and biologic treatments. He has also given lectures and presentations at numerous national orthopaedic conferences. He has also won multiple local and national awards for his research, including the Charles Neer Award in 2025 given to the best shoulder and elbow papers. In addition, he currently serves on multiple committees for the American Orthopaedic Association (AOA) and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), and he serves on the editorial board for the Arthroscopy and BMC Musculoskeletal Disorder journals.
He feels privileged to have trained in multiple parts of the country, serving multiple communities and numerous patient populations. He feels confident he can provide every patient the individualized care they deserve, understanding their unique situations and goals while helping them achieve them.
In his free time, he continues to swim, play tennis, and play basketball. He also enjoys hiking with his wife and dog, heading to the beach, and biking. He is excited to be a part of and help the community he grew up loving.
